The mission of the Ask Dr. B. Good app is to become the advice columnist of the education world so that educators and parents have someone who can help them navigate the education arena when an issue arises.
Schools are one of the most unique workplaces around! We have
• Adults trying to form strong, learner-centered relationships with an even larger group of little people;
• Smaller group of administrators trying to build trust relationships with those adults so they will be more effective educators to the little people!
Sounds wonderful, doesn’t it? It can be, if all the adults are on the same page and work hard at getting along.
But what happens if one or two things go out of whack? Let’s say
• The administrator has a personality disorder (if you believe teachers, many do);
• You have a teacher who is constantly late and asking you to cover the first few minutes of her/his class;
• You have a child with behavior challenges and the administrator doesn’t seem to care that s/he is ruining school for your class… and you!
Often, educators who have tried their normal HELP! protocols don’t get the relief they need to move forward in a more positive way.
How can parents use the "Ask Dr. B. Good” app?
• Have a question about bullying and can’t get a straight answer from the school or even the district? Ask Dr. B. Good! She’ll help you put the school policies and state law(s) in your hands so you can show the school you mean business.
• Your child’s Special Ed IEP/504 Accommodation Plan is not being implemented and no one at the school seems to care? You now have a place to seek not only answers but reassurance your hunch may be right about what may or may not be happening at the school.
•
Dr. Good is not a lawyer and she doesn’t play one on TV, but many of the school policies are easy to understand and do not require a lawyer to solve them at the school level especially when the school figures out you have become dangerous with real knowledge!
What is special about the "Ask Dr. B. Good” app?
It has appeal to various audiences, especially educators and parents, but if a student wants to ask a question, she’ll be happy to take a crack at the answer!
